The best classes in college were the acting classes, as most young people think about. No-where else could you unwind, stretch out, relax fully, use your imagination, exercise your voice, and make a huge human noise and motion machine that metamorphosized into a doo-wop group singing "The Lion Sleeps Tonight". Acting classes taught you that nothing is real, and that illusion is created by mere force of will.
Of course , acting classes showed us that improvisation could bring out the performer and the jokester even the quietest and most reserved of participants, and that guerilla theater could have effects on its audience far beyond what we might have originally considered, just by having interrupted a person's daily routine presenting an idea in an entertaining and dramatic form. For some, acting class was a laboratory that opened new doors of perception for them, and they were changed for life.
If you are an aspiring actress or actor, and you haven't yet made your way into any acting classes, do make an effort to seek them out and take advantage of what they have to offer. Acting classes can make the difference between an actor who is judged as simply a hack, and someone who is genuinely respected as a person who has studied their craft.
